Sachsen in Vancouver

The calm before the storm?

Vancouver on Wednesday: In the city everything goes on as usual. Certainly the decoration in the streets, on houses and walls, on posters and banners tells of Olympia, but otherwise one doesn't realize that it is going to start in two days. The traffic restrictions are so far insignificant. Everything's cool. Let's see how it is going to be as of Friday evening. In the meantime, things are getting hot in Saxony House: in spite of grisly rain and 5°C, the Saxony team is quite working up a sweat.

Considering the problems still to be solved, there is a constant up and down of emotions. So right now the serving of beer is in danger: the valves of the Canadian oxygen bottles do not fit German kegs! Of course that was clear before, but unfortunately the American importer of Wernesgrüner has also delivered our beer along with the equipment to the German-Thuringian House. They must be removed from there as soon as possible. For the head of the house, Hans-Jürgen Goller, it is however absolutely clear: "On Friday at 6 p.m., when we open, the beer will be flowing."
