20.000 visitors in Saxony House
Dresden/Vancouver, February 21st 2010 - Andrew Wade is the 20.000th visitor in Saxony House. Last night the 23-year-old was welcomed on stage by Saxony's Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich and house-chief Hans-Jürgen Goller. As a welcome gift he received two tickets for the biathlon competitions on February 23rd in Whistler as well as a commemorative medal and free access to Saxony House until the end of the Olympic Winter Games. Wade was born in Denver (Colorado), has been living in Vancouver for six years and works for Boeing. Last year he visited Dresden and is therefore all the more pleased about the surprising welcome after two hours waiting time.
Also Katarina Witt was received with tumultuous applause on Saturday evening. The Olympic correspondent and Olympic champion kept her promise and visited the Saxons even twice. With that, Katarina Witt was the star guest of the economy evening with Canadian and Saxon businessmen, which has been organized by the Saxony Economic Development Corporation and Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich. This evening contributed to supporting Saxon enterprises, for example from the areas of mechanical and plant engineering as well as biotechnology and environmental technology, to find Canadian cooperation partners", said Tillich in Vancouver. In Saxony there are currently 15 Canadian enterprises from the areas of mechanical engineering and tool manufacture, solar cell and paper production. By far the most important Canadian investor in Saxony is the Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Görlitz and Bautzen.
