Saxony House prepared for the rush on the last weekend of Olympia
Dresden/Vancouver, February 25 2010 - 11.500 biscuits, 11.000 fried sausages, 1000 steaks, 130 kilograms of venison and 320 kegs of Wernesgrüner beer with overall 160 hectoliters are the outcome in Saxony House four days before the end of the XXI Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Additionally, the kitchen crew has used 80 breads at two kilograms each, 650 kilograms of potatoes, 500 kilograms of onions and 400 kilograms of sauerkraut in the past two weeks. But the Saxony team is also prepared for the expected great rush on the forthcoming last weekend of the Olympic Games: at the beginning of the week 300 kegs of beer have been reordered, fresh steaks of pork neck have been marinated and another thousand sausages have been produced so that there will be no shortage neither of Saxon food nor of drinks. And also the service team once more mobilizes all forces after 289 working hours that have been performed so far.
Saxony House, which with 26.350 visitors at present has received and fed far more guests than expected, will close its doors at the end of the official final event of the Games on Sunday evening. For the last days of Olympia, prominent guests have announced their visit in the Vancouver Rowing Club at the Stanley Park opposite the impressing skyline. After the completion of their competitions we expect Claudia Nystad, Eric Frenzel and Björn Kircheisen as well as the bob pilots Cathleen Martini and Romy Logsch. Yesterday, the whole skeleton team with Anke Huber, Marion Trott, Sandro Stielicke and Kerstin Szymkowiak as well as speed skater Marco Weber and cross-country skier René Sommerfeld were received in the house. And also the ARD wants to celebrate their last day at Saxony House with 150 persons.
The TMGS, that has experienced enthusiasm and assent over the whole period since February 12 with long queues in front of their house, predicts that "the house will be full and things will get hot once more " at the forthcoming last weekend.
